First RSU Open Days in Tel Aviv
RSU International Department has successfully commenced a new initiative to host our Open Days abroad. On 6 April RSU organised such an event in Tel Aviv, Israel, with the participation of Ms Baiba Pētersone, Director of RSU International Department, and H. E. Andris Vilcāns, Ambassador of Latvia to Israel. The aim of the event was to inform prospective students about study opportunities at RSU.
Among the participants were 20 students and their parents. Shortly after the presentation several students submitted their applications for the “Medicine” programme at RSU.
Ambassador Andris Vilcāns (pictured below) gave an opening speech, encouraging young people from Israel to apply for studies at RSU by stressing that RSU stands out due to the high quality education and our graduates’ successful professional experience in Israel. The ambassador emphasised the academic background of the long-standing head Israel Medical Academy Leonīds Eidelmans – he graduated from Rīga Medical Institute (now Rīga Stradiņš University) in 1975.
During the event head of the International Department Baiba Pētersone gave a detailed presentation about RSU and study opportunities in English. RSU first year student Vered Brodsky (Israel) shared her personal experience when applying for studies at RSU, the study process and the social and cultural life of RSU international students. Finally, the floor was given to prospective applicants for a question and answer session.
Alongside the Open Days, RSU also took part in the East Mediterranean Study Tour education fair organised by the US-based UStudy, and the RSU booth was widely attended.
The next RSU Open Day abroad will be held on 25 April in New Delhi in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia to India.
