The Statistics Unit of the RSU Faculty of Medicine is organising guest lectures on social determinants of medicine and their analyses 5–7 December at 9 Kronvalda Boulevard, Auditorium P-11, Faculty of Public Health and Social Welfare. The lectures will be presented by Ieva Reine, PhD in social medicine, researcher at Uppsala University, Sweden.

The lecturer holds a master’s degree in psychology and public health; she has been awarded a doctoral degree in public health and a qualification in gender studies. Ms Reine is a Swedish social insurance expert, draft law reviewer, supervisor of academic work at diverse levels, author of multiple publications and a frequent speaker at diverse international conferences, and symposium and project participant.

Within the framework of the guest lecture week, Ieva Reine will hold three lectures in Latvian:

  • Monday, 5 December 12:15 – 15:30: Social determinants of health from the gender perspective – how and why they should be applied?

  • Tuesday, 6 December 12:15–15:30: Challenges of the public health approach in studies on socially marginalised groups

  • Wednesday, December 7, 12:15–15.30: PSM (Propensity score matching) in regression analysis
