The 5th International Scientific Practical Conference ‘Health and Personality Development: an Interdisciplinary Approach’ will be held from 25 to 27 April. The conference aims to discuss the latest research results and practical work experience in psychological research, talk about assessment and help, as well as foster the integration of research into the study process.

The three-day conference programme will feature reports, lectures and workshops lead by visiting lecturers, local academics, doctoral students, professionals and students. The programme includes over 60 presentations, among them six presentations delivered by visiting lecturers, and nine workshops, six of which lead by visiting lecturers. This year’s conference will focus on matters of neuropsychology and qualitative research, and discuss the significance of and interdisciplinary approach and international cooperation in research.

The conference will open with a symposium dedicated to exploring the conceptual framework of multidimensional psychological assistance. A presentation of trends associated with the application of the Latvian Clinical Personality Test will be the key event of the day. After the lunch break the conference programme will be divided into three sections. 36 research papers will be presented which were developed during the study process as well as several doctoral theses. These will be presented by students and doctoral students of RSU Faculty of Public Health and Social Welfare, Faculty of Rehabilitation, Faculty of Communication and Faculty of Medicine and cover psychological assistance in work with various patient and client groups, professional competence and identity. The day will end with a panel discussion about the opportunities and challenges of supervision in various professional environments.

On 26 April conference participants will have the opportunity to participate in lectures delivered by eight visiting lecturers from USA, Great Britain, Portugal, Lithuania, and Russia. A symposium dedicated to qualitative research will also be held.

On 27 April the conference will end with five workshops lead by the visiting lecturers and three workshops by local lecturers and professionals. The workshops will be dedicated to current studies in psychobiology and neuropsychology and particular methods of supervision and art therapy.

By participating in the conference students, researchers and practitioners will have the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge in an interdisciplinary context about how various representatives of helping professions contribute to health promotion and to the treatment of diseases.

The conference is organised by the Department of Health Psychology and Paedagogy of the RSU Faculty of Public Health and Social Welfare.

The conference will be held in the RSU Medical Education Technology Centre at 26a Anniņmuižas bulvāris in Rīga. 36 continuing education points will be awarded for conference attendance.
