International Cooperation

The final Open Day of the year for prospective international students took place on 22 November 2024, welcoming 18 students and their parents from 10 countries: Germany, Sweden, Norway, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Kenya.

Practical information and insights

The Open Day offered prospective international students a unique opportunity to explore the study environment and facilities at RSU. Participants toured various university sites, gaining insight into what studying at RSU would be like. The event featured introductions to the university’s Medicine and Dentistry study programmes, the application process, campus life, and essential information about living in Riga.

Nureka Minduli Thotawatta from Australia shared her experiences and the reasons behind her decision to study at RSU. She highlighted the opportunities RSU offers, both academically and socially, emphasizing the university's friendly and international atmosphere.

Guided tour and workshops

The information session was followed by a tour of the main RSU building, led by staff from the International Admissions Office, along with students Nureka Minduli Thotawatta and Fatma Sadiya from India.

Prospective medical students visited the RSU Medical Education Technology Centre, where simulation instructors demonstrated state-of-the-art simulations and clinical skills trainers, showing how the simulation-based learning process prepares students for real clinical situations. Students and their parents actively participated in a cardiopulmonary resuscitation workshop.

Meanwhile, prospective students interested in the Dentistry programme visited the Dentistry Pre-clinic and the Institute of Stomatology, where they were guided by students Jaroscha Katharina Victoria Graf from Germany and Otto Mikael Alapuranen from Finland. They explored both the study process and the skills training equipment used in dental studies, including state-of-the-art simulators with phantom heads and 3D training tools. Participants also had a valuable opportunity to observe the daily routine of a student clinic working with patients.

Open Day: A unique opportunity to experience the University firsthand

The Open Day offers prospective students the chance to not only explore the University but also experience what it would be like to study in Latvia and become part of the RSU community. These events foster confidence in the international quality of education in Latvia and encourage students from around the world to join RSU.

The RSU International Department would like to thank everyone who contributed to organizing the event. We look forward to welcoming new students in the upcoming semester.
