Prof. Gunta Lazdāne Receives Order of the Three Stars

Gunta Lazdāne, Professor at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Faculty of Medicine of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), and the Founder of the Institute of Public Health, has spent 15 years of her varied and eventful career working at the World Health Organisation (WHO) outside Latvia. In recognition of her contribution, Prof. Lazdāne was awarded the Order of the Three Stars on 20 April 2021.

The professor started her cooperation with the WHO Regional Office for Europe as an expert on sexual and reproductive health, followed by many years of work as a regional adviser and head of the sexual and reproductive health programme. During this time, she has gained invaluable experience, which the Professor shares through her work at RSU. 

Thanks to her tireless and selfless work, the field of sexual and reproductive health in Latvia is receiving increasing attention, which is reflected in the Public Health Guidelines for 2021-2027 (in Latvian).
