Registration for RSU Research Week 2025 is now open!
Registration is now open for the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Research Week, which will bring together scientists, academics, industry representatives, and policymakers from 24 to 28 March to share the latest research findings, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and discuss the best solutions for health and society.
RSU Research Week will begin on 24 March with the Opening Plenary Session, led by RSU Rector and President of Research Week 2025, Prof. Aigars Pētersons, and joined by the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs.
The event will be followed by inspiring speeches by experts, including Dr. Bertalan Meskó, Director of The Medical Futurist Institute:
'I always emphasise that artificial intelligence, no matter the amazing opportunities it can bring to medicine, will not replace medical professionals. However, those medical professionals who know how to use the benefits of AI will replace those who do not.
This is the future we must begin preparing and training for.'
Keynote speakers will include Prof. Romain Meeusen from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, who specialises in the study of human physiology. He will talk about the importance of movement for brain health. Prof. Susan Michie, Director of the Centre for Behaviour Change at University College London, will round off the Research Week opening programme. She will present on the topic ‘Improving Health by Applying the Science of Behaviour to Healthcare Practices’.
About the conferences
Research Week will begin with the 11th International Student Conference Health and Social Sciences, an annual event that traditionally brings together students from across Europe and around the world.
Four international conferences will take place in parallel from 26 to 28 March:
- International Conference on Medical and Health Research Knowledge for Use in Practice;
- The conference Society. Health. Welfare. will bring together researchers, practitioners, and students from six disciplines: public health, psychology, environmental and occupational medicine, health management, social work, and nursing and midwifery;
- The interdisciplinary conference PLACES will bring together representatives from political science, law, economics, communication, and other branches of social sciences;
- A new addition this year will be the conference Innovation and Artificial Intelligence: The Path from Research to Practice, which will focus on the role of innovation and artificial intelligence in healthcare development.
Not just conferences, but also masterclasses, workshops and other events
In addition to five international conferences with nine parallel sessions, RSU Research Week will also feature masterclasses, workshops, and other events. This year, nearly 1,300 papers have been submitted from more than 40 countries, and 60 renowned experts from at least 19 countries – including representatives from the Karolinska Institute, University College London, Amsterdam University Medical Centre, University of Helsinki, and other leading scientific institutions – are expected to participate as guest speakers.
See you at RSU Research Week 2025!
