RSU 70th Anniversary Celebrations Postponed to 2021
Dear colleagues, students, alumni and friends,
The year 2020 will go down in history as the year that a global battle was fought against the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19. Numerous restrictions and bans have been imposed due to the pandemic, which will slowly and gradually be eased. This year is, however, not only notable for the pandemic.
The year 2020 marks the 70th anniversary of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU). We planned to celebrate this occasion together with employees, students, alumni and friends on 25 and 26 September by holding a ceremonious senate meeting, an anniversary concert and an alumni reunion.
There is still a state of emergency in place in Latvia, which prohibits any gatherings and public events. We have taken recommendations by epidemiologists and infectologists from RSU into account in order to maintain a safe learning and work environment.
We have therefore decided to postpone the 70th anniversary celebrations of Rīga Stradiņš University to 2021. We hope to be able to hold the event from 22 to 27 March 2021. More information about the celebrations will follow.
Our university has been operating for 70 years already. The only way we can overcome obstacles is by keeping together. We can deal with difficulties caused by the global pandemic successfully by cooperating and supporting each other. Today the RSU team stands united and continues its work successfully. Our strength lies in cooperation and mutual support.
May we all stay healthy and cheerful!
Take care of yourselves, and I look forward to the celebration in March 2021!
Sincerely,
RSU Rector, Prof. Aigars Pētersons
