RSU Museum of Anatomy participates in Museum Night for the first time
On 19 May as part of the International Long Night of Museums, a unique opportunity was given to five lucky people – the chance to participate in a silent midnight excursion through the RSU Anatomy Museum.
Although the building of the museum at 9 Kronvalda bulvāris is under reconstruction and is closed to the general public, five persons were selected through a lottery, being given a unique opportunity to visit the museum in the middle of the night.
The visitors had the chance to see various forms of specimens, learn about different historical specimen preparation methods and the progress of restoration of the centenarian collection. Legends were shared about the skeleton that is part of the museum collection since 1925 and also about the first body donated to the museum which bears witness to the fact that although we are not immortal, our bodies and the knowledge gained from them can survive through the centuries.
