RSU Residency Student Participates in Erasmus+ Traineeship in Traumatology and Orthopaedics in Israel
The Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Department of Orthopaedics has a long-standing and successful cooperation with the Azrieli Faculty of Medicine at Bar-Ilan University. Igors Pikaļevs, a residency student in traumatology and orthopaedics at RSU, chose to ungergo his two-month traineeship at the Ziv Medical Center Clinic of Orthopaedics under the supervision of the Head of the clinic, Professor Alexander Lerner, within the framework of Erasmus+ KA107 programme.
During his time there Pikaļevs took part in the 39th International Conference of the Israel Orthopaedic Association. The knowledge and experience he gained while performing reconstructive surgery on patients with complex extremity injuries (including those caused by military conflicts) by using a circular external fixation method are unique and essential for traumatologists/orthopaedists for treating patients with severe extremity injuries.
