Six RSU academic staff on editorial board of "The National Encyclopaedia"
In the printed version of Latvia's The National Encyclopaedia, titled Latvija, launched on 18 October, six of the fields covered were developed, headed by academic staff from Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU). Professor Jānis Vētra, Dean of the Faculty of European Studies, Professor Andris Sprūds, Assoc. Prof. Aldis Lieljuksis, Faculty of Law, Professor Anda Rožukalne, Dean of the Faculty of Communication, Assist. Prof. Klāvs Sedlenieks un lecturer Dita Rietuma. With these experts at the helm, entries were created in the following fields: medicine, international relations, internal security, law, communication science, social anthropology and cinema. The managing editor of The National Encyclopaedia is historian, and RSU Assoc. Prof. Valters Ščerbinskis.
The National Encyclopaedia is a unique project and work on this significant resource of knowledge in the Latvian language was started in 2014. The popular-scientific publication will contain entries on nature in Latvia, history, education, culture, science, the structure of government and governance, the economy and other topics. The all-encompassing encyclopaedia will be available electronically on 18 December.
The printed volume comprises 864 pages, it contains over 250 entries and more than 1000 illustrations.
