The RSU Institute of Public Health joins international project to modernise cervical cancer screenings

Over the next four years, the Institute of Public Health at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) will be participating in the project “Towards elimination of cervical cancer: intelligent and personalised solutions for cancer screening” to modernise cervical cancer screenings. They will be collaborating in this project with the Institute of Family Medicine and Public Health of the University of Tartu (Estonia), the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, and the Norwegian Cancer Registry.

At the end of September, it was announced that the project, which was submitted by the University of Tartu, had received funding from Baltic Research Programme which is funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway grants.

The aim of the project is to develop, validate and determine the cost-effectiveness of specific personalised artificial intelligence technology of preventive medicine (application). This technology is developed in the field of cervical cancer screening by using high-performance computing technologies and analysing clinical, biological, and population data.

Three researchers from the RSU Institute of Public Health will participate in the project: Anda Ķīvīte-Urtāne, Una Kojalo, and Jana Žodžika.
