A magical night at the students’ Winter Ball

Students at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) celebrated a night of enchantment and camaraderie at the Winter Ball on December 9, 2023, hosted at the historic Riga Latvian Society House. The event, which was organised by the RSU Student Union (Studējošo pašpārvalde, SP) together with the International Student Association (ISA) aimed to unite Latvian and international students, creating an atmosphere filled with dance, laughter, and shared moments.

This year's Winter Ball, themed around the classic Nutcracker, unfolded as a truly delightful affair. The venue exuded warmth and charm, with attendees immersed in the joyous spirit of the season. The open bar, a thoughtful touch by the organisers, added to the merriment and was warmly appreciated by all in attendance.

The evening kicked off with inspiring speeches from prominent figures within the RSU community. RSU Rector Prof. Aigars Pētersons set the tone for the night, sharing words of encouragement and unity. Outgoing RSU SP Chairperson Luīze Monta Remese and RSU ISA President Lucas Risters bid farewell with reflections on their tenure, paving the way for the incoming leaders.

The newly elected RSU SP Chairperson Alise Luīze Bērziņa and RSU ISA President Barbara Silva then took to the stage, expressing their vision for the future. Their words resonated with optimism and a commitment to fostering a vibrant and inclusive university community.

Adding a musical note to the festivities, the group Oranžās brīvdienas delivered a captivating performance, further elevating the magical ambiance. As the night progressed, the dance floor came alive to the beats spun by DJ Gir4a, ensuring that everyone present became a part of the rhythmic celebration.

The Winter Ball was more than an event; it was a manifestation of unity, diversity, and the collective spirit of RSU. As echoes of laughter and joy reverberated through the Riga Latvian Society House, it became evident that the Winter Ball had successfully achieved its goal of bringing students together for a memorable and heartwarming evening.
