RSU and the American University of Cyprus sign a Memorandum of Understanding to promote cooperation

On 15 and 16 May, the management of the American University of Cyprus (AUC) visited the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) for a two-day exchange visit. During the visit, RSU and AUC signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the presence of the Latvian Minister of Health, Hosam Abu Meri, to promote cooperation in science and research, as well as study and human resources mobility.

‘I visited Cyprus as part of a WHO meeting in April, where I also met with representatives of AUC. During the meeting, we agreed to strengthen relations at the transnational level to promote cooperation between Rīga Stradiņš University and the American University of Cyprus. It was a pleasure to host the representatives of AUC in Latvia in order to promote transnational cooperation in the field of higher education and to facilitate the exchange of experience in the field of health,’ said the Minister of Health.

RSU Rector Prof. Pētersons, ‘It is a great pleasure to see our international alumni returning to their Alma Mater to foster international cooperation. Today, by signing an agreement with the American University of Cyprus, we are delighted to have the opportunity to expand our opportunities for scientific research, study and exchange of professional experience, as well as our circle of allies and friends in the world.’

Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of RSU Karina Palkova, Director of the Social Sciences Research Centre Ieva Puzo, and other representatives of the RSU Faculty of Social Sciences participated in the discussions with the leadership of AUC.

The visit to RSU ended with a tour of the Medical Education Technology Centre, where the guests were introduced to the possibilities of using various simulation technologies in the implementation of medical study programmes.
