RSU Hosts International Summer School on Economic Modelling and Evaluation in Health Care
In a positive and creative atmosphere, from September 14 to 18, the Institute of Public Health of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) organised the International Summer School (ISSR) on Economic Modelling and Evaluation in Health Care: An Application-Oriented Approach. RSU and international students, academic and research staff participate in lectures and seminars with interest.
The challenges of the health care system and the use of health economics methods in solving the problems of the health care system are discussed in person and online.
Participants of the International Summer School are studying economic modelling methods: cost-effectiveness assessment of health technologies, modelling of patient flows and processes in medical institutions, modelling of the COVID epidemiological situation, etc. The training is based on the practical use of economic evaluation and learning how to use special applications.
Lectures and classes are conducted by visiting lecturers from RSU partner universities in Great Britain and Germany. The newly acquired knowledge and skills will be used for the development of the research direction in health economics of the RSU Institute of Public Health, as well as for the development of teaching modules and supplementation of the content of study courses. In addition, closer and more extensive opportunities for research and academic cooperation between RSU and the universities represented by the visiting lecturers are emerging.
