Statistical Unit tests new form of consultation
The Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Statistical Unit is testing an innovative new approach to statistical consultations via Skype.
The consultation is organised in the form of a Skype call, using the screen sharing option that allows the lecturer to see the student’s PC desktop, to follow the steps taken by the student and to explain what particular actions must be taken for statistical analysis. This form of consultation allows the lecturer to answer the student’s questions and if necessary concurrently search for additional information on the Internet.
consultations via Skype to be convenient and practical as the study data are instantly stored on the student’s PC and all necessary information pertaining to the study may be promptly sent via Skype. The students who already have experience with conducting Skype consultations recognise this form of communication equally as practical and suitable as in-person consultations. The students have found the convenience and time-effectiveness of Skype consultations and recommend them to others as a good option.
If a RSU student wants to receive a consultation on statistics via Skype, he/she must fill out an application for consultation in statistics.
