Breast and ovarian cancers are among the most common malignancies in women, posing a significant healthcare challenge both in Latvia and worldwide. Every year, around 1,200 new cases of breast cancer and 300 cases of ovarian cancer are diagnosed in our country.
In preparation for the upcoming renovations in Blocks D and G of the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Main Building at 16 Dzirciema iela, the departments working there are gradually vacating their premises. According to the Department of Infrastructure, the relocation process should be completed by 20 October this year, when most of the building will be closed. This year's second EIT Morning Health Talks took place on 14 November 2024. As in the first event, talks focused on Open Innovation Journeys: Collaborative Pathways, Alliances and Networks, getting an insight into open innovation alliances and how these alliances can contribute to data sharing in sandbox environments.
From Friday 13 September, a new podcast series, Media&Society, will be available for listeners to discuss the relationship between the media and society in Latvia and Estonia. The aim of the series is to promote discussion and understanding of issues related to media use and trust in media institutions.
From 5 to 6 September, researchers Dr. iur. Kristīne Kuzņecova and Romāns Gagunovs from the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) grant ‘Prevention of security threats and risks in the political protection, social, socio-economic and informative fields’ presented their research at the 4th Jagiellonian Interdisciplinary Security Conference (4JISC) entitled ‘The Age of Warring States: Debating Peace and War in the 2020s’ in Krakow, Poland.

Both new and experienced researchers are invited to submit abstracts for Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Research Week 2025 (RW2025), to be held next spring, on 24-28 March. The series of conferences at RSU will bring together researchers, students, partners, doctors, nurses and other health professionals, state representatives and NGOs, as well as professionals from the diaspora. RW2025 will include three international conferences on health and medicine and social sciences that will be held both online and on-site.
