Paving the way for future achievements and maintaining a strong bond among the alumni of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), the University’s Alumni Association is pleased to share a look back at the past year. During 2023, the association continued to support excellence, innovation, and community growth by celebrating accomplishments and success stories.
Researchers from the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Institute of Occupational Safety and Environmental Health (IOSEH) participated in the Latvian Investment and Development Agency’s PROTOTECH programme and tested a prototype of the Grindclaw ergonomic computer gaming glove developed by Latvian start-up Grindclaw.
Alise Luīze Bērziņa is a 3rd-year medical student. She joined the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Student Union (Studējošo pašpārvalde, SP) two years ago, when she was elected as a student representative for the RSU Senate. Later, Alise Luīze (pictured) became the head of academic affairs on the RSU SP board, and since 1 January 2024, she has been the union’s chairperson. ‘Alongside these positions, I have been a student representative in various committees, as well as an activist and organiser of various RSU SP activities,’ she adds.
Ilze Eklsa will defend her doctoral dissertation on 22 March at 9:00 in an open meeting of the RSU Media & Communications doctoral committee on Zoom. Her dissertation is titled 'Comparative Analysis of Western Design Principles and Visual Structure in GCC Advertising Design'.
On Friday, 16 February, the Minister for Health Hosams Abu Meri visited the pre-clinical facilities of the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Faculty of Dentistry and the RSU Institute of Stomatology. The purpose of the visit was to learn about current issues and problems in paediatric and adolescent dentistry, as well as inspect the facilities where aspiring dentists acquire their professional skills in a safe simulated environment. During the meeting, the minister and RSU management agreed on the establishment of the RSU Children's Dental Centre.
Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) and the RSU Institute of Stomatology plan to develop a modern dental practice and study centre on the RSU campus by the end of 2028.
The new dental study and research centre will be located on the RSU campus at 16/20 Dzirciema iela, and planning and design work has already begun.
The Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Pedagogical Development Centre invites you to attend the interactive international workshop 'How to Write a Poster', organised by the RSU Department of Family Medicine on Wednesday, 6 March.
This workshop is open to anyone who is interested.
On Tuesday, 27 February, the discussion "Breaking down the walls? freedom of expression as a common value" will take place in the city of Daugavpils. It is organised by the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Faculty of Social Sciences, the Daugavpils Mark Rothko Museum, and the Media Diversity Institute from the UK.
The Summer 2024 graduation ceremony for international medical and dental students will be held on Friday, 5 July, at 11 a.m. in Inspiration Park next to the main campus.

Andrejs Šitovs will defend his doctoral dissertation on 26 March at 14:00 in an open meeting of the RSU Legal Sciences doctoral committee on Zoom. His dissertation is titled 'Fluoroquinolone Antimicrobial Agent Levofloxacin in Veterinary Medicine and its Pharmacokinetic-Pharmacodynamic Studies'.
