Accelerace Fund will foster the creation of deep-tech start-ups in Latvia

To increase investments in the commercialisation of research and the establishment of deep-tech and technological start-ups, UniLab, the business incubator for Latvian universities, signed an agreement with Accelerace, the leading venture capital and acceleration fund in Scandinavia on 17 January. The agreement will further cooperation in creating an investment fund.

RSU to reduce the number of faculties and introduce a unique study management structure in Latvia

Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) will merge several faculties and establish new structural units to implement good governance principles, promote the quality of studies, interdisciplinarity, and research excellence. Instead of the current nine faculties, going forward RSU will have five – the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Dentistry, the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Faculty of Health and Sports Sciences, and the Faculty of Social Sciences.

On Wednesday, 24 January, doctors, residents, students and other interested parties are invited to participate in the interactive international workshop "How to Understand Meta-Analysis Papers", led by Michael Harris, visiting professor in family medicine at Rīga Stradiņš University.

Attendance is worth 2.5 academic hours or 2.5 continuing education points.

Artis Birziņš (pictured) is a Latvian who has been living and working in Japan for 20 years. He explores the big trajectories and trends that shape us as individuals, organisations, and the world at large. Birziņš conducts lectures and classes within the Futures Thinking course at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) and explains complex matters in simple terms – how and where technology is going, and how we can better understand, see, and seize opportunities.

The new Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) History Museum exhibition, The Many Faces of Scales, is currently on display outside the Great Hall at 16 Dzirciema iela.

Scales and balances as instruments to measure mass

The Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) History Museum features a collection of various scales and balances. It dates back to around 2009, when the museum received the majority of the items from the Faculty of Pharmacy. In the 20th century, these scales were used in the study process to measure various substances.
