The use of wearable technologies in personalised medicine, such as smart textile garments, has increased in recent years including in physiotherapy. Guna Semjonova, a doctoral student at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) and physiotherapist, has focused on the meaningful and evidence-based use of wearable technologies in physiotherapy since 2014. She first came across them in a clinical setting during an Erasmus+ exchange programme in Finland.

METC

Earlier this week, the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Medical Education Technology Centre (METC) opened a new simulated surgical unit. Here, students will be able to learn and improve a wide range of medical skills.

The construction of the operating rooms in the unit started in May and RSU has invested a total of EUR 864,000 into the project. The newly built premises include an operating room, surgical and laparoscopic skills training rooms, as well as rooms for microsurgery and patient preparation.

RSU Rector and Council Chair Meet with the President of Latvia

The President of Latvia, Egils Levits met with the Rector of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Professor Aigars Pētersons and the Chair of the RSU Council Reinis Bērziņš to discuss the contribution of higher education exports to the Latvian economy and the development opportunities for higher education institutions on Monday, 24 October.

Alexander Lerner, Visiting Professor at the Department of Orthopaedics, Gave Lecture on Orthopaedic War Injuries

Continuing the long-standing cooperation with Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Department of Orthopaedics, Professor Alexander Lerner from the Azrieli Faculty of Medicine at Bar-Ilan University and the Orthopaedic Clinic of Ziv Medical Center in Israel, gave several lectures at RSU on 14 October.

This time, the Professor lectured about orthopaedic war injuries at the Institute of Anatomy and Anthropology. He covered several topics:
