Is it possible to reduce stress in 5 minutes? That is what social work students will try to find out during a week of intensive lectures and practical training in the Nordplus project "5 minūtes starp klientiem" (5 minutes between clients). The project will take place from 17 October to 21 October. 15 students from Tampere University of Applied Sciences, 15 students from Kaunas University of Applied Sciences, and 20 students from Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) are participating this year.
‘Residents have the opportunity to learn laparoscopic surgery techniques on living tissue, in conditions that are made to be as close to being in a real operating theatre as possible. There is an operating room nurse, instruments, and the latest technology. But above all, students get to experience a sense of responsibility because they are working with real tissue. There is no going back, you cannot rewind and try again’, says Aleksandrs Maļcevs, Assistant Professor at Rīga Stradiņš University and Member of the Board of the Doctors Safe Train Foundation.

The University of Tartu still ranks the highest among all Baltic universities, while RSU and Tallinn University of Technology share second place.
‘This academic year has started with on-site studies and various events, with a lot of enthusiasm, new ideas and the hope that it will be possible to continue studying on-site throughout the year,’ says Toms Mārtiņš Smilga, Chair of the Board of the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Student Union (Studējošo pašpārvalde, SP). This autumn, he started his sixth year of studies at the Faculty of Medicine.

Professor Stefan Ruhl, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at the University at Buffalo, New York, has arrived at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) to participate in the international conference 100 Years of Dental Education in Latvia.
To promote the rational use of research infrastructure, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) launched the Erasmus+ funded project, EASY GOV (EASY GOV Laboratory Management Platform), together with Universidade do Minho in Portugal last year. The project involves four countries in total and aims to develop an easy platform for research laboratories to procure and manage research equipment.
From 13 to 14 October, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) will host a dynamic multidisciplinary event – the Precision Medicine Networking Forum – where more than twenty experts from Scandinavia, Western Europe, and the Baltic States will share their experience on the latest opportunities in the treatment of paediatric and adult oncological diseases.
