Fever, or high temperature in a child, is one of the most common reasons for parents seeking medical help. Most commonly, fever in children is caused by self-limiting viral infections, but in a small number of children, the fever can be caused by severe bacterial infections that require more thorough examination and early treatment with antibiotic drugs.

RSU Academic Ball a Great Success

After a more than a three-year-long hiatus, the traditional Riga Stradiņš University (RSU) Academic Ball was held at the Riga Latvian Society House on Saturday, 10 September marking the ball's 20th anniversary. RSU staff, students, and university management came together to celebrate with invited guests, among them ministers, rectors and vice-rectors of other universities, and representatives of state and non-governmental organisations.

RSU and Pauls Stradiņš Hospital Provide Simulation-Based Polytrauma Training

Tens of millions of people around the world suffer a variety of injuries every year that can affect their ability to work, their quality of life, or even prove fatal. Every day, Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital (PSKUS) treat polytrauma, gunshots, stab wounds, and severe head injuries. To treat these patients in a structured way, PSKUS has developed a polytrauma protocol that acts a sa kind of algorithm for medical staff.

RSU signs Memorandum of Understanding to establish branch in Germany

A Memorandum of Understanding to establish a branch in the German city of Stade was signed between Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) and Elbe Kliniken Stade (EKS) on 1 September. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Rector of RSU Professor Aigars Pētersons and Professor Holger Schmidt, Head of the Neurology Clinic of EKS, who is the coordinator of the cooperation project from Germany.

RSU Freshers' Sports Day Returns!

The annual Freshers’ Sports Day will take place on Thursday, 8 September, at 11:00 at the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Sports Club at 3 Cigoriņu iela. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in activities such as rowing on the rowing machine, mini golf, a relay race, volleyball, basketball, and other sports.

The event will be held in Latvian and English, as there are so many international students studying at the University as well.
