2020 has been an unusual year for all of us, including the RSU Alumni Association. This year's summer graduates experienced a very special graduation week. For the first time in the RSU history, graduation ceremony took place outdoors – it was held in the RSU yard and in the Inspiration Park. Members of the Alumni Association, in turn, experienced the first alumni event with remote participation. As in the previous year, the number of members of the Alumni Association has increased significantly this year, and now it gathers more than 800 people.
Researchers from Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) have received funding from the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) for the commercialisation of two projects.
LIAA has provided funding for the Latvian Clinical Personality Inventory (LCPI), using which it is possible to comprehensively assess a person’s mental condition as well as their ability for emotional and social adaptation.
Priyadharshini Ravi and Emma Walfridsson are both Medicine students at RSU. Priyadharshini is in her 5th year and will be going back to Leeds in the UK. This year, she was the Liaison Officer on the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) International Student Association (ISA) board. Professor Ludmila Vīksna, Head of the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Department of Infectology, has worked at RSU since 1971 conducting research as well as pedagogical and administrative duties. This year, the traditional Christmas Ball organised by the Rīga Stradiņš University International Student Association (RSU ISA) that usually takes place in December, could not be held. The Board's contingency plan to hold an event outdoors was also quickly discarded as emergency measures and restrictions became stricter as the months got colder.
The first Speed Friending event that the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) International Department organised online turned out to be a big success. The event offered participants with an opportunity to meet other RSU students and aims to encourage the integration of international students.
