On 19 May in a solemn award-giving ceremony, the Teodors Reiters Music Award was presented to the conductors of RSU mixed choir “Riga” - Zane Zilberte and Evita Taranda - for outstanding achievements in choral music in Latvia and abroad. A letter of recognition from the Teodors Reiters Foundation was also awarded to choirmaster Uģis Meņģelis for professional work.
From 25 to 26 May the Rezekne Academy of Technologies hosted the 12th International Scientific Conference “Society.Integration.Education”. The well-attended conference was organised in 17 parallel sessions where participants from 12 countries could discuss the outcomes of their research depending on the area of specialisation (paedagogy, education, psychology, health science, economics etc.).
The Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH) in Great Britain has a history dating back 25 years and its activity is devoted to setting standards and quality criteria for sexual and reproductive healthcare. This non-governmental organisation brings together medical practitioners from different professional backgrounds, midwifes, public health nurses, researchers and academic staff.
Rīga Stradiņš University will be hosting the 7th Baltic Otorhinolaryngology Congress 7–9 June 2018.
On the first day of the Congress, from 14:00 to 16:00, an international student conference will be held during which the participants will present their scientific projects.
The Congress is organised by the Latvian Otorhinolaryngology Society.

Recipient of "Doctoral Student of the Year 2018" is Davide Borroni, an exceptional 3rd year doctoral student at Rīga Stradiņš University who specialises in ophthalmology and is writing his dissertation on the theme "Researching translation in medicine: genetics in ophthalmology".
On 26 and 27 June a meeting of international experts in cardiology, organised jointly by Rīga Stradiņš University and a/s Olainfarm will be held at the Baltic Beach Hotel in Jūrmala. RSU will be represented by cardiologists, teaching staff from the Department of Internal Diseases, Professor Oskars Kalējs, Assistant Professor Artem Kalinin, Assistant Kristīne Jubele un Tutor Irina Pupkeviča.
Kinesiology taping gained global recognition at the 2008 Olympic Games. This therapeutic technique appeared in Latvia a year later and since then has increased in popularity. Taping is a therapeutic tool for alleviating pain and reducing discomfort by applying a thin, flexible adhesive tape. Assistant at the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Faculty of Rehabilitation and physiotherapist Marita Spuntele-Kondrjakova explains the therapeutic effects of kinesiology taping and self-taping possibilities at home.
On 6 June RSU Faculty of Medicine Department of Internal Diseases will hold the Cardiology Olympiad Cor nostrum for 3rd year Medicine students.
The objective of the Olympiad is to mark out the most talented and brightest students with excellent academic knowledge in cardiology and propaedeutics.
The Olympiad Cor nostrum has been held since 2012 and is continuing the traditions of the Olympiad of Propaedeutics A capite ad calcem.
This year the traditional SELL student games were held in Tartu, Estonia. The annual three-day sporting event was held from 18 to 20 May, bringing together young athletes from 8 countries representing 49 universities, among them Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) with 69 participants.
From 28 May to 2 June Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) will participate in National Health Day, held as part of the NowWeMove campaign.
