For Students

On 26-27 September, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) hosted a group of Latvian and international accreditation experts who assessed the Internal Security and Civil Protection study field. The group of accreditation experts included representatives from Canterbury Christ Church University (UK), Tartu Vocational College (Estonia), BA School of Business and Finance (Latvia), the Employers' Confederation of Latvia, the Student Union of Latvia, and the Quality Agency for Higher Education.

Over two days, the experts met with the representatives of the University’s management, RSU lecturers, students, graduates, and employer representatives. They also got acquainted with the material and technical facilities at RSU, including a visit to the mock courtroom and forensic practical training room at 9c Kuldīgas iela.

‘The visit is an important step in the development of the Internal Security and Civil Protection study field. We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with international experts who are making a valuable contribution to the accreditation of our study programme. Internal security is essential not only for a country’s stability, but also for public trust and a sense of security. Higher education is crucial in providing young people with the knowledge and skills they need to effectively face the challenges of today. This expert accreditation visit also helps raise students' awareness of international standards and practices that are essential to ensure a sustainable and secure future for our country,’ says Lidija Juļa, Head of the Internal Security Programme Group and Lead Researcher at the RSU Faculty of Social Sciences.

Three study programmes are implemented in the Internal Security and Civil Protection study field: the first cycle professional study programme Police Work, the professional master's study programme Economic Security Protection and the academic master's study programme Economic Security, which RSU implements together with Daugavpils University. The Police Work and Economic Security Protection programmes are implemented within the Internal Security Academy consortium.
