On 14 November, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) was awarded the prize for the best employers in the category of the Company’s Support to Public Health Promotion and Health Sector by the Employers' Confederation of Latvia (Latvijas Darba devēju konfederācija, LDDK). The award was received by Toms Baumanis, RSU Vice-Rector.

Toms Baumanis, RSU Vice-Rector for Administration and Development: ‘We very much appreciate the recognition given by Latvian employers. The University is a pillar of the Latvian healthcare system, providing the necessary human capital for the sector. Our work is dedicated to the development of young doctors, nurses and other specialists, without whom one cannot imagine Latvian healthcare and the provision of medical services to patients. RSU invests the earned financial resources in the development of science - in funding the research of both professors and young scientists.

Every day, we devote a lot of effort to improving the skills and competences of young healthcare and medical professionals, enhancing technology and innovation, so that the Latvian healthcare system becomes more modern, treatment - safer and more accessible, society - healthier and more educated.’

This year, candidates for the LDDK Annual Award nominations could be nominated by any LDDK member, while the award winners were chosen by the help of cooperation partners: the Free Trade Union Confederation of Latvia, the State Revenue Service, the State Labour Inspectorate, as well as SIA Lursoft IT.

At the LDDK Annual Award 2024 ceremony, employers were honoured in ten nominations: for the company's contribution to strengthening defence - for the support provided to Ukraine's defence capacity; for the company's support to educational institutions, investments in their infrastructure and educational process; for the contribution to promoting business sustainability, etc.
