Join us for the Opening Plenary Session of RSU Research Week
Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Research Week will begin on Monday, 24 March, at 9:00 with the Opening Plenary Session in the RSU Great Hall (16 Dzirciema iela).
Keynote speeches, presentations and musical performances
RSU Research Week will be opened on 24 March by RSU Rector and RW2025 President Prof. Aigars Pētersons and President of the Republic of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs. Speeches will also be delivered by RSU Vice-Rector for Science Agrita Kiopa and Member of the European Parliament, LU Assoc. Prof. Ivars Ijabs.
Next, inspirational experts will address the audience, including Dr Bertalan Meskó, Director of The Medical Futurist Institute: 'I always emphasise that artificial intelligence (AI), no matter the amazing opportunities it can bring to medicine, will not replace medical professionals. However, those medical professionals who know how to use the benefits of AI will replace those who do not. This is the future we must begin preparing and training for.'
Among the keynote speakers will be Prof. Romain Meeusen from Vrije Universiteit Brussel, who specialises in the study of human physiology. He will talk about the importance of movement for brain health. Prof. Susan Michie, Director of the Centre for Behaviour Change at University College London, will close the opening programme of Research Week with the presentation 'Improving health by applying the science of behaviour to healthcare practices'.
The band Madara will entertain participants with musical performances.
