New diplomacy programme in English

For the first time Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) is launching a new diplomacy study programme in English. The programme International Governance and Diplomacy has students from Latvia, Germany, the UK, Armenia, Georgia and Cameroon. This two-year study programme is in the Faculty of European Studies and prepares students to become qualified international relations specialists with broad career opportunities.

‘RSU has more than 20 years of experience in educating political scientists and international relations specialists. Over the years, the university has become a brand in Latvia – the place where prospective political scientists with the potential to build an international career are forged. An English language study programme is the next logical step in developing our faculty,’ says Professor Andris Sprūds, the Dean of the Faculty of European Studies.

‘Now our students have the opportunity to acquire a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy in English while experiencing an international learning environment here in Latvia. For international students the programme offers an opportunity to focus on international politics from the perspective of the Baltic States,’ says Assist. Prof. Māris Andžāns, Head of the Master’s study programme. As the programme has launched, there has been an increase in the number of international students choosing to study social sciences students at RSU. The majority of international students study medicine, dentistry and other healthcare disciplines. This academic year RSU welcomed a total of 329 new students from 31 countries, the majority of them from Germany, Sweden and Finland.
