Rector's Address to Students Regarding Vaccination
Dear students of Rīga Stradiņš University,
For a year now, the fight against COVID-19 has been taking place around the world. The global pandemic has had a significant impact on our lives. For two semesters, the study process as well as research at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) have taken place remotely. Medical and health studies cannot be carried out without practical training in healthcare facilities.
A vaccine against COVID-19 has finally been developed, and it has also reached Europe and Latvia. Throughout the history of medicine, vaccination has been crucial in overcoming several deadly and traumatic diseases such as polio, smallpox, rabies, and others. The new COVID-19 vaccine is a safe and research-based way to achieve individual and herd immunity. It will allow RSU to re-establish the study process and practical training in clinics in full!
Dear student! I invite you to take action so that onsite studies can resume for yourself as well as your peers! Vaccination is the only way that can your and your peers' safety to study can be ensured. Please follow the vaccination process in your country of residence closely, and take the earliest possible opportunity to receiving it in order to develop immunity to COVID-19!
Regards,
