RSU celebrates 359 winter graduates, including first 48 from RSU LASE
Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) hosted its winter graduation ceremonies on 7 February. 359 graduates of bachelor and master study programmes from five faculties received their diplomas: Medicine, Dentistry, Social Sciences, Health and Sports Sciences, Pharmacy, and the RSU Latvian Academy of Sport Education (LASE).
International students from the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Dentistry celebrated their graduation. Among the graduates were 111 young doctors and 24 dentists, who were congratulated by RSU Rector Prof. Aigars Pētersons and Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Health Artjoms Uršuļskis. Compared to last year, the number of international students at RSU has increased by almost 10% and now exceeds three thousand. The majority of international students come from Sweden, Germany, Finland and Norway.
On Friday afternoon, students from the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Faculty of Health and Sports Sciences, and the Faculty of Pharmacy graduated. For the first time, 48 graduates of the RSU LASE bachelor's programme in sports sciences and physiotherapy received their RSU diplomas.
Among the graduates of the Faculty of Social Sciences were 33 bachelor's and 7 master's students from the Law programme, as well as 30 graduates from the Police Work programme. Other graduates included master's students in Economic Security, Social Anthropology, International Marketing and Business, and International Business and Law. The new professionals were congratulated by the Minister of Justice, Inese Lībiņa-Egnere, and the Deputy Chief of the State Police, General Andrejs Grišins.
"The graduates of the Faculty of Health and Sports Sciences included 34 health sport specialists, nine art therapists, eight health psychologists, and 22 nutritionists.
Meanwhile, 14 students graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy’s master’s programme – eight in industrial pharmacy and six in clinical pharmacy.
