A strong start and bright future – congratulations to the Faculty of Social Sciences on its first anniversary!
A key outcome of Rīga Stradiņš University’s (RSU) internal consolidation last year was the establishment of the new Faculty of Social Sciences. Officially launched on 6 February 2024, the faculty merged the faculties of Communication, Law, and European Studies. It introduced an innovative governance system, fostered interdisciplinary research, consolidated study programmes, and enhanced resource efficiency. Other reforms were also implemented.

RSU Faculty of Social Sciences Dean, Assoc. Prof. Karina Palkova:
‘A year may seem short, but for the Faculty of Social Sciences, it has been a powerful start – from an idea to a strong academic and research team where collaboration and interdisciplinarity have become part of our daily work.
The result: modernised study courses, enhanced simulation spaces, and the approval of several international research projects.
Over the past year, we’ve addressed major societal issues and laid the foundation for the modern and sustainable development of social sciences.
We believe social sciences must continually evolve to better serve society’s needs.
I am truly proud of our faculty's achievements and confident that 2025 will bring even greater success in both research and education!’
