Students Elect New RSU SP Board and Chair for 2022
The elections for the new board of the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Student Union (SP, Studējošo pašpārvalde) took place on 24 November. They were held both online and in person this year.
Toms Mārtiņš Smilga (pictured), a fifth-year student from the RSU Faculty of Medicine and the outgoing Head of Science Affairs in 2021 was elected the new Chair of the Board.
‘Board elections could this year once again be held in person, at least partially, by taking epidemiological precautions. The elections lasted seven hours and about 70 students took part, some also joining in remotely,’ said Paula Feldmane, the current RSU SP Chair. ‘I wish the new RSU SP Chair Toms Mārtiņš Smilga and his team lots of luck, success and resilience, and to never forget that the RSU SP’s main objective is to represent every student at RSU!’
