Deep Tech Atelier, a conference dedicated to research-driven innovation, will be held in Riga for the fifth year. The event will bring together entrepreneurs, scientists and technology developers, investors, representatives from government and public organisations, as well as students. Over two days, on 20 and 21 April, Deep Tech Atelier will offer outstanding international speakers, pitch sessions, a large EXPO zone and excellent networking opportunities at B2B sessions between startups, investors, and industry representatives. The language of the event is English. Entrance is free of charge with pre-registration.

In addition to speeches by world-renowned speakers and seminars designed to teach the skills needed for business development and commercialisation of science, students will also have access to associated events, including the Labs of Latvia seminar on research-driven technology communication Communicating innovations - why and how? AT the seminar, experts from various fields will give insights into the nuances of communication and media relations and suggest methods, techniques, and channels that can be used to amplify the message and support business objectives. The event will take place on the first day of Deep Tech Atelier, 20 April, from 13.00 to 17.40. The seminar will also be streamed on the Labs of Latvia Facebook page. Speakers will include:

  • Arko Olesk, lecturer in Science Communication at Tallinn University, who will talk about why scientists need to communicate and which formats can be used for communication;
  • Tobias Maier, science communication specialist, who will present how to communicate science to non-expert audiences;
  • Krista Krūmiņa, co-founder of Truesix, a local content marketing agency, who will talk about how to communicate with the media;
  • Miķelis Grīviņš, tenured professor at Rīga Stradiņš University and researcher at the Baltic Study Centre, who will talk about how to ensure that enthusiasts become ambassadors for research;
  • Miranda Vinay, editor at Nature, who will present how to write about science for a specific audience;
  • Mārtiņš Zaumanis, owner of the science communication platform Peerrecognized.com, who will address the topic of maximising the impact of research.

Deep Tech Atelier is part of two European Regional Development Fund projects ”Innovation Motivation Programme” and “Support for the Improvement of the Technology Transfer System”.
