In support of our students from Israel

Dear RSU community,

It is with a heavy heart that we are following the news from Israel. It is a country with which we have close ties, whose citizens – passionate and diligent students and guest lecturers – we have welcomed here in Latvia at Rīga Stradiņš University.

Now many of them who are eligible for conscription will be drafted into the army. Our Israeli students and lecturers will be forced to interrupt their study process and go to the aid of their fatherland.

More and more of our students are caught up in the horrors of war and are affected by the spillover in society in terms of hate speech and intolerance.

Rīga Stradiņš University condemns terrorism and violence in any form, whether physical or verbal. We urge everybody to recognise the human suffering that is at the core of this terrible war and we wish for the University to be a safe place for our community.

Our hearts go out to our students and their families and we hope for this war to end as soon as possible.
