Two new deans take up duties

New deans of the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Dentistry of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) were approved in the Senate meeting, held 18 December.

Assoc. Prof. Dace Bandere was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy. She has held the position of associate professor at RSU since 2016. From 2012 until the beginning of 2019 she has held the position of Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Assoc. Prof. Dace Bandere will continue to carry out the duties of lecturer at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and remain in the position of head of the doctoral programme “Pharmacy”.  The associate professor commenced her work as dean on 7 January.

The Faculty of Pharmacy was headed by Assoc. Prof. Baiba Mauriņa for the past ten years. She has currently taken up the position of Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy.

Also, Assoc. Prof. Andris Ābeltiņš was approved in the position of Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry. He has been elected in the position of associate professor since 2016. From 2014 to 2018 Andris Ābeltiņš held the position of Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry. He will continue to work as a lecturer at the Department of Orthodontics and head of the second level professional study programme “Dentistry”. Assoc. Prof. Andris Ābeltiņš commenced his work as dean on 18 December 2018. 

Previously, Prof. Ilga Urtāne held the position of dean for the past five years. 

Assist. Prof. Inguna Rence-Bambīte has been appointed Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry.
