Chronic pain is a global health problem that has a major impact on people's quality of life and their ability to maintain emotional and physical balance. In such circumstances resilience, or the ability to adapt and preserve oneself in the face of adversity, becomes a crucial resource for living life to the full, despite the limitations of pain.
To recognise outstanding achievements in the public health, healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, the Ministry of Health and the Cabinet of Ministers annually present Letters of Commendation and Gratitude to professionals in the sector.

Acinetobacter baumannii is a bacterium that can cause a variety of infections associated with medical settings, as this is where infections are most commonly contracted.
In 2022, Latvia still had one of the highest levels of resistance to Acinetobacter baumannii: 63.3% of Acinetobacter spp. samples were resistant to fluoroquinolones, aminoglycosides and carbapenems, which are antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Department of Paediatrics Assoc. Prof. Jevgēnija Livdāne – one of the most outstanding Latvian neonatologists and paediatric specialists.
