The Rīga Stradiņš University's (RSU) traditional Health Day will take place on Thursday, 12 December, from 10.00 to 14.00, at 16 Dzirciema iela. Staff and students will have the opportunity to donate blood and undergo simple health tests.
Researchers at the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Social Sciences Research Centre are working in an international team to improve the ability of artificial intelligence to detect misinformation and related narratives in the digital environment. As a result, major language models will be improved and a monitoring system for misinformation narratives will be recommended.
On 22 November, the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Faculty of Social Sciences hosted the first national scientific and practical law conference LEX SCRIPTA. The conference took place at 9C Kuldīgas iela, Riga, and was an excellent opportunity for law experts, professionals, researchers and students to come together for academic discussions and knowledge exchange.
A guest lecture titled “Public Health Policy Matters: The Power of Policy Analysis” was held at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), 16 Dzirciema iela, on 6 November this year. The lecture was delivered by Heide Weishaar, PhD, MSc, a senior public health researcher at the International Health Protection Center of the Robert Koch Institute and deputy head of the Evidence-based Public Health Unit (ZIG2) in Germany. On 22 November, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Rector Prof. Aigars Pētersons presented the RSU Student of the Year Award to fifth-year Medicine student Roberts Kārkliņš.
The RSU Annual Awards include eight other categories for outstanding students, employees, academics, and structural units, as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award, were held at the University’s Academic Ball on 7 September at the Riga Latvian Society House. Unfortunately, Roberts Kārkliņš was unable to attend.
On 13 November, in the spirit of the National Day of Latvia, employees and students of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) participated in a masterclass to learn how to make a traditional rye bread dessert in the canteen of the RSU Main Building.
‘If it's your birthday, you also need a dessert, and Latvians, of course, know how to make it even from rye bread,’ explained Roberta Vītola, Internal Communication Project Manager of Public Relations Department, the event organiser and the author of this creative idea.
Madara Dzudzilo will defend her doctoral dissertation on 2 December at 13:30 in an open meeting of the RSU Clinical Medicine doctoral committee. Her dissertation is titled 'Detecting Early Signs of Malignancy of Oral Leukoplakia in its Tissues and Saliva.'

On 14 November, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) held its doctoral graduation ceremony, awarding more than 30 Doctor of Science degrees for the first time. The graduates were personally congratulated by Artjoms Uršuļskis, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Health, and Juris Jansons, Ombudsman of the Republic of Latvia.
