The Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Institute of Oncology and Molecular Genetics was established on 6 February 2024 by merging the Institute of Oncology and the Scientific Laboratory of Molecular Genetics.
On 29 and 30 July, Christophe Robino, Monaco's Minister of Health and Social Affairs, and his delegation visited Latvia. The aim of the visit is to learn about Latvia’s healthcare system and conclude an agreement on closer international cooperation. On 29 July, the delegation from Monaco also visited Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU), where they met with RSU management and other university representatives to discuss potential collaboration opportunities.
As the Paris Olympic Games begin, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) wishes the Latvian Olympic team great success, hoping they delight and inspire Latvian supporters with their outstanding results. We particularly keep our fingers crossed for the 22 students and graduates from RSU and the RSU Latvian Academy of Sport Education (LASE), who have travelled to the Olympic Games as part of the Latvian Olympic delegation. We wish them success, good health, and a strong spirit in their quest for Olympic achievements.
The Patent Office's expert commission has nominated the app EMORI for the Trademark of the Year – For Latvia award in the second quarter of 2024, according to an announcement on the Patent Office's website. EMORI helps users become aware of and understand their emotions.
RSU Library has just received 37 books as a valuable donation from the Read Japan Project. This initiative, supported by the Nippon Foundation and the Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research, aims to promote a deeper understanding of Japan worldwide by donating high-quality books about Japan in English.

Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) women's 3x3 basketball team of Paula Cirša, Anita Miķelsone, Luīze Šepte and Una Šteinharde won the European Universities Games in Debrecen on 15 July.
On 10 July, RSU 3x3 men's and women's basketball teams travelled to the Hungarian city of Debrecen to represent RSU at the European Universities Games 2024 (EUSA Games).
Before the tournament, the 3x3 men's student team had a preliminary match against the Hungarian U-18 3x3 basketball team and finished it with a score of 21:12.

On Monday, 26 August at 15.00, the opening ceremony of the new 2024/2025 academic year will take place in the courtyard of Riga Stradiņš University (RSU) main building at 16 Dzirciema iela.
At the matriculation ceremony, we will welcome the newly admitted first year students, enjoy musical performances and let the new students experience the great atmosphere of RSU.
