The right to own a property is one of the most important fundamental human rights, but property rights may be restricted in the interests of society as a whole or of an individual. A right of way easement (the right to use or access another person’s property) is one of the restrictions on property rights, where the rights of one property owner are restricted for the benefit of another owner or property owned by another person.

Diabetes Days: Free health check-ups from RSU medical students on 24 and 25 November

For the third year, the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) ophthalmology interest group is organising an awareness-raising event for diabetes that will take place on 24 and 25 November at 11.00-16.00 at the Riga Plaza shopping centre. Visitors will have the opportunity to find out their eye pressure, visual acuity, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels free of charge, as well as assess their risk of stroke based on individual biometric factors.

Recurrent tonsillitis is a repeated (recurring) bacterial inflammation of the palatine tonsils. It decreases the quality of life, leads to financial losses due to the inability to work and medical expenses, and can be severe, spreading deeper and lead to complications like peritonsillar abscess (PTA).

Flare-ups of recurrent tonsillitis are treated with antibacterial therapy, but if the flare-ups recur three or more times each year, doctors usually recommend surgery to remove the tonsils.

Virus season is underway – get vaccinated and take precautions

The Latvian Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has declared an influenza epidemic in Latvia as of 12 January. The Centre stresses that vaccination is the most effective way to protect against a serious case of the flu as well as Covid-19 and encourages people who are at high risk of health problems to take advantage of the vaccination provided by the state.
