Sanita Šuriņa, a doctoral student at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) and a lecturer at the RSU Department of Health Psychology and Pedagogy, developed her doctoral thesis during the Covid-19 pandemic. The aim was to investigate factors associated with Covid-19 preventive behaviour (adherence to hygiene and social distancing measures).
Many departments at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) worked so selflessly and diligently under the stressful and unusual conditions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic that they not only maintained but also raised the bar of excellence of RSU. RSU management therefore decided to award two Certificates of Recognition this autumn in addition to the Structural Unit of the Year award – one went to the RSU Anatomy Museum and the other to the Medical Education Technology Centre (METC).
On 1 April a Collaborating Centre for Health Professional Education of the World Health Organisation (WHO) was launched at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU). The functions of the centre were delegated to the Faculty of Public Health and Social Welfare.
The Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Department of Paediatric Surgery and the Centre for Educational Growth invite anyone who's interested in improving their knowledge on congenital surgical anomalies of newborns and infants to an online lecture and discussion. Professor Udo Rolle, Head of the Head of Paediatric Surgical Department at Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main Department of Pediatric Surgery and Pediatric Urology (Germany), will share his experience and knowledge.
On 13-14 December 2022, Riga will host the international EECA INTERACT Conference on HIV, Hepatitis C and Tuberculosis in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
The event brings together scientists, clinicians, policy makers, patient representatives, and NGOs from Eastern European and Central Asian countries. Here, they will jointly discuss the challenges facing countries in these regions, thereby improving both scientific capacity and transnational cooperation.
There are many English-language student-led academic societies at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) focusing on a wide variety of medical specialties. To get a better understanding of what they do, who the people organising them are, and how they benefit RSU students, I spoke to representatives of three societies.
The international EECA INTERACT scientific workshop will take place at the Bellevue Park Hotel in Riga on 13 and 14 December. The aim of the workshop is to strengthen scientific capacity and transnational cooperation in controlling HIV, tuberculosis, and viral hepatitis. This year, its topic is “Science for Action on HIV, Tuberculosis and Viral Hepatitis in Eastern Europe and Central Asia”.
