On February 17 at 16:15, Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iceland, will be giving a guest lecture at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) on sustainable development opportunities in the Arctic.

European Studies students and lecturers as well as members of other faculties are welcome to the guest lecture.
 

Anniversary Issues of Socrates Now Available

The anniversary issues of the scientific journal Socrates cover such topics as hate crimes, the criminological issues of human trafficking, police work methods, the impact of robotics on the healthcare system, child representation and other matters. Socrates is dedicated to legal research and is published in both Latvian and English.

The Anatomy Nights event will take place on Valentine's Day, 14 February, at Autentika. At the event the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Museum of Anatomy will demonstrate how the heart - an organ shrouded in pop culture and legend - is built. The purpose of the event is to bring anatomy to a wider audience.

Book about cardiac surgeon Romans Lācis launched

On 15 January, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Alumni Association organised an event celebrating the launch of the book titled 'Romans Lācis. Sirds cilvēks' by Lia Guļevska published by publishing house Jumava. Cardiac surgeon Romans Lācis is a surgery professor at the RSU Faculty of Medicine Department of Surgery. His name is a part of the history of medicine: he and his team performed the first ever heart transplant surgery in Latvia in 2002.
