Construction of new Pharmaceutical Education and Research Centre in full swing

On Wednesday, 11 May, representatives of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) management, researchers, and students visited the future RSU Pharmaceutical Education and Research Centre at 21 Konsula iela, next to the RSU Main Building. The group surveyed at how the construction was progressing and were shown around the premises by specialists who explained the floor plans and presented the timeframe for the works.

The new building is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and is expected to be ready in autumn.

Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) is proud not only of its excellent reputation, but also of its purposeful move towards creating a student-centred university. For several years now, Student Services has been gradually optimising, digitising, and modernising its internal e-systems, processes, and regulatory documents in order to reduce bureaucracy and make the circulation of documents and other processes as fast, convenient, and comprehensible as possible.

It was Lāsma Sirmule who thought of organising Latvian language courses for Ukrainian refugees and to use proven Latvian language curricula. She is a lecturer at Riga Stradiņš University (RSU) and knows the curricula well because she uses it in her daily work.

According to Dace Žibala, Head of the RSU Language Centre, the invitation to apply for the classes was posted on social networks about a month and a half ago, when the first refugees from Ukraine were arriving in Latvia. The response was unexpectedly high already in the first few hours.

A Look Back at the RSU Student Union’s Annual Award Ceremony

22 April marked the 29th anniversary of the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Student Union (Studējošo pašpārvalde, SP). The 11 most significant events, people, and organisations that have contributed to the work of RSU SP in the previous year were congratulated and celebrated at the RSU SP Annual Zelta pakavs (Golden Horseshoe) Awards ceremony.

Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Sports Club’s annual Fitness Day took place last Friday, on 6 May. On this day our fitness experts conducted various classes that students and staff could participate in.

More than 100 participants applied for Fitness Day activities. They came together with their children and friends and enjoyed the pleasant Friday evening in a great atmosphere in Inspiration Park next to the RSU main building, at 16 Dzirciema iela.

Anatomijas muzejs

On Saturday, 14 May, the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Anatomy Museum will participate in Museum Night for the first time. The museum will open its doors to visitors from 12:00 to 18:00 at 9 Kronvalda bulvāris in Riga. The museum’s motto is "Open for real" and will invite anyone interested to look into the inner worlds of different people – not only physical, but through music also into people’s dream worlds. The evening’s programme has been created in collaboration with composer Platons Buravickis.

14 May 2022, is Museum Night in Riga. Make sure that the RSU Anatomy Museum (9 Kronvalda bulvāris) is on your route! Doors will be open to all guests from 18:00 onwards.

RSU and Employees Receive Certificates of Gratitude and Appreciation from the Ministry of Health

On Thursday, 5 May, Minister for Health Daniels Pavļuts presented health care workers with the Ministry of Health’s Certificates of Gratitude and Appreciation in the Great Hall of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU).

‘Each and every one of the award recipients has worked every day to ensure the health of our people, and for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for a lifetime of hard work and for all your efforts during the two years of the pandemic.

RSU Collects Donations for Ukraine

A special initiative was held at Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) on 6 May in support of the Ukrainian people. Staff and students could donate everyday household items and food to provide Ukrainians with assistance both in their homeland, where the bloody war waged by Russia continues, and in Latvia, where more than 20,000 Ukrainians have found a safe haven.

RSU students, lecturers, and employees donated second hand goods, as well as new blankets, pillows, bedding, and other items. Donations included much-needed hygiene products and food.
